Standing In Love
There is so much hype about FALLING in love, but nobody seems to acknowledge the beautiful experience of STANDING in love. Once the roller-coaster of hormones, dopamine and endorphins slows down after what is often referred to as 'The Honeymoon Phase', it's almost expected that a relationship will eventually die a slow death as familiarity sets in and excitement is replaced by complacency and the dreaded 'rut'. But that is absolutely not how it has to be! We have discovered a wonderful, loving, passionate space called 'Standing in love', where we can rediscover, reconnect and rekindle our love in ever deepening spirals of appreciation, vulnerability and intimacy. Standing in Love means being grounded, steady, unwavering in your in-loveness. It's not unpredictable and wild like falling in love, it's certain and dependable. It's safe, real, and reliable. And it is deeply intimate, in the real sense of the word. We actively seek out time and space to just be together, even if it's only a quick lunch or our weekly Friday Breakfasts at Cafe Billi Bi. In just being together, we sometimes have the most amazing moments of honesty, authenticity and mutual revealing. These are the moments that cement our bond and remind us that we ARE in love, and that it is only getting stronger. As we stand together in our love, we get to see even more of each other's souls, feel even deeper just how important the other person is to us, and let the love fill us up to overflowing. Falling in love is fickle and fleeting. Standing in love is deep and enduring! I am (thankfully!) done with all the falling! I am profoundly happy to be standing, forever, with you my Deon Love
